100 Years, 100 Stories.

In honor of our 100th Anniversary, we wanted to share some stories of faith, love, and fellowship from our church members.

"My family & I moved to Longmont over 50 years ago. We searched for a church for a while & finally were blessed to find Messiah. The different Pastors at Messiah have played a key role in my family’s lives: from baptisms, confirmations & officiating weddings, counseling to even conducting funerals.
Previous pastors & now Pastor Ron (Messiah’s current pastor) visited my husband when he was a shut-in & were available for emergency visits at all hours.
Messiah, along with the Pastor & church members, have helped me through many of life’s difficult times & strengthened my faith in Christ. I truly believe the prayers of so many is the reason my stage 4 cancer is currently in remission.

My fervent hope is that more people come to Messiah to hear the Good News & celebrate in the knowledge that we are saved through Jesus. I pray we will see Messiah Lutheran Church in Longmont overflowing!"

"I'm a late blooming Christian. In fact, I like to think I bloom a little more each day. When I was small, I went to a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School on occasion but never regularly attended either.

My grandfather was born in Denmark and was a strong Lutheran, so I leaned toward the Lutheran church when I was searching. As it turns out, Phyllis Prauner, who was a counselor at Longmont High School when I was teaching there invited me to attend Messiah Church where she was member. I was baptized and became a member in 1985.

My husband and I were married at Messiah with Pastor Dan Schmidt officiating. My two daughters were baptized, confirmed and participated in all the activities for children and young adults offered by Messiah. 

Longmont's Messiah Lutheran Church has fulfilled our every need. My husband and I feel blessed that we've been able to enjoy many wonderful experiences at Messiah including the powerful sermons and bible studies."

"What does Messiah Lutheran Church mean to me? Messiah means worshiping and praising Lord God with my Christian Brothers and Sisters and relatives. My grandparents August & Anna Behrmann helped establish Messiah and helped build the first Messiah church in Longmont at 7th & Bowen.
All of my Aunt's & Uncles were baptized and confirmed there and both my Mother; Pauline Ruth Stamp Behrmann and my father; Ernest H.D. Behrmann were as well. All of my first cousins, my two older sisters, and myself were all baptized and confirmed there. The year I graduated high school our Messiah Lutheran Church at Mountain View and Francis St. was dedicated.

God was so gracious to me, that when my mother died in 1948 - I was 18 months old and my sisters were 5 & 7 - My Grossmama & Grosspapa (August & Anna) raised us to love Our Lord Jesus Christ. I hope and pray that Messiah will continue and grow. We have a wonderful teacher in Pastor Ron, he teaches from the Bible that God is Love and We are his children.
